Consulting services

The Psychosocial Counseling Center (PSB) offers all employees of the state* the opportunity to receive help quickly and unbureaucratically. Counseling is free of charge and the Saarland bears the costs.

The team at the counseling center consists of psychologists who have a wide range of counseling and therapeutic methods at their disposal. All employees are bound to confidentiality.

* With the exception of employees of the prison police, who are supported by their own psychological service.

We offer psychological counseling and crisis intervention for personal and/or professional problems, such as

  • Dissatisfaction with the personal and/or professional situation
  • Low or fluctuating self-esteem
  • depressive moods
  • Fears
  • Burnout
  • sexual problems
  • psychosomatic complaints
  • Partnership and family conflicts
  • Problems in reconciling family and career
  • Overload due to high workload
  • Problems with superiors or colleagues
  • Bullying

Counseling mainly takes place in the form of individual discussions. However, group sessions and mediation are also possible in the event of team or interdepartmental conflicts.

An open telephone consultation is offered once a week.

How often do counseling sessions take place?

There is no set frequency. You can discuss this with your advisor as required.

How many consultations can I have in total?

On average, you have up to five appointments available.

How long does a consultation take?

A consultation lasts 45-50 minutes.

Can the counseling sessions be counted as working time?

We cannot give a general answer to this question. We ask you to clarify this individually with your employer.

Will my employer know about my appointments?

Counseling sessions are confidential. We are subject to a duty of confidentiality. Your employer will only find out about this if you inform them yourself.

Are there parking facilities on site?

You are welcome to park in the guest parking garage P2, Uni Mitte (Stuhlsatzenhausweg, 66123 Saarbrücken) (entrance in front of the main gate on the right). There is a small charge for this.

Does the PSB also offer psychotherapy?

The PSB offers psychological counseling and crisis intervention for personal and/or professional problems. Psychotherapy is not part of our services.

Can you arrange therapy places?

We will be happy to support you in your search for a suitable therapy place. Unfortunately, it is not possible to find a place directly.

Does the PSB also offer case supervision?

We do not offer special case-related supervision.

What other services can I take advantage of at the PSB in addition to one-to-one meetings?

You can also contact us if you have questions concerning conflicts between several team members or if mediation is required.

In order to be able to respond to urgent requests at short notice, the PSB offers open telephone consultation hours on Tuesdays from 10 to 11 am. You can contact us during this time without prior appointment for a brief initial conversation on 0681/302 2511.
